 When the controversy broke about then Senator Obama having known Bill Ayers, my first thought was "cool, maybe his is one of us. Since then, it is Obama that has disappointed, not Professor Ayers.
My discussion with him will strive to contemplate, contrast and compare the social movement of the 60's and 70's with what is happening now. I think he can, as someone who has been fully immersed in the former shed light on the latter.
Great effort has been taken to marginalize, even demonize and true socialist with any chance of influencing the dialogue in this country. While active in the advancement of progressive education, that that alone is considered too "radical" for the "educational industry" speaks volumes about how far right we have been pushed as a Nation.
Today, this nation is under a far more militant resistance against OWS activists than the anti-war activists of the SDS and WU were... I wonder, how will it survive?
I am thrilled an honored to be able to have a conversation with Bill! I am sure we shall all learn much from him.
Bill Ayers is an American elementary education theorist and a former leader in the movement that opposed U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. He is known for his 1960s activism as well as his current work in education reform, curriculum, and instruction. In 1969 he co-founded the Weather Underground. He is a retired professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, formerly holding the titles of Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar

I'm almost kidding. They have no problem carpet bombing civilians with drones, or assassinating World Leaders, or sicking the Police on unarmed civilians.
Bin Laden, Gahdaffi, American Citizens abroad, they kill them.
Peaceful protestors trying to get a Real Democracy reinstated, they brutalize them.

 Occupy Wall Street is again our topic tonight, as I assume it will be for a very long time as long as the Independent Journalists are still able to report freely.
Two very important questions remain.
The first is about how it will fail - for the odds are stacked very highly against the Populace saving themselves from a deeply entrenched and now global Oligarchy. Will it be through violence, being co-opted, being handed austerity and thrown a few bones? Or will they create violence and blame the resistance in order to turn the population against the Occupation, rewarding little Orwellian finger-pointers?
The second is about how it will succeed - for against all odds, we are the many and we could easily regain power if the will to do so is true. Is highly regulated capitalism what we must settle for, perhaps isolationist America-first selfishness, or will we truly break free into sane socialism?
These are the days we have been waiting for my friends. It has begun.

Tonight I have the honor of interviewing Bruce A. Dixon co-founder of the wonderful (and wildly left) Black Agenda Report. His bio there:

A habitual troublemaker and incorrigible activist, Bruce Dixon has been comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable since 1968.
As a rank and file member of the Black Panther Party in 1969-1970, a 1970s rank-and-file union activist in a string of factories, plants and workplaces, a 1980s community organizer in what were then some of the nation's poorest neighborhoods, to organizing and consulting through the 1990s Dixon has built an impressive record of service in and to the cause of human liberation.
In 2002 he began writing articles for Black Commentator, the predecessor of this publication, and broke the first accurate analyses of the phenomena around the election of Denise Majette over Cynthia McKinney in Georgia that year.
As managing editor at BAR Dixon is chiefly responsible for maintaining this web site. He currently resides in metro Atlanta.
Bruce graciously allowed me to reprint his latest essay questioning the LOTE, lesser of the two evils with Barack Obama as perhaps the more effective evil. "Barack Obama VS Those Craaaazy Republicans: Is He the Lesser Evil, or the More Effective Evil?" I adored it. He is brilliant, outspoken, and a troublemaker like me. This should be an awesome show!

Racism, we will show, is an absolute force in this country for the travesties of justice against people of color. It makes me SICK!

These are all emotionally charged issues that DO need our attention.

In World News, Palestine is on the verge of Statehood, and the US is cornered into losing all credibility of promoting peace and self determination should we block this on Israel's behalf. We are welcoming Honduran criminals back into the country with open arms, and our own last colony Puerto Rico is so plagued by human rights abuses by the militants there trying to silence their free speech that even the NYT was forced to mention it. We are against their popular revolt, yet for the one in Libya. Confused? I can simplify.
They always manipulate the message and manage the revolutions in their favor.
Its kind of a lose-lose for the People here & abroad this week.

Well, I have an unusually surly week, how about you? My particular breed of insanity makes for pretty neat voyeurism into the uncharted waters of extreme-rant as a new sport. In other words, its almost fun.
Or would be, if the world wasn't turning to shit before our eyes, all while being branded and hawked by wild eyed street vipers. You know, the charlatan press and the planet-rapers for which they stand?
Its going to be disaster week, which is pretty much apropos of my mood. Natural disasters, man-made disasters, disasters wrought by monsters: Shakes, winds, war and famine.

I have the rare honor of speaking to a man who in my opinion has been framed by the Korporate Power Structure as much for his academic threat to the "narrative" the Walmart University World demands be followed, as for his so-called controversial remarks regarding 9/11. Isn't it master of the obvious time to realize everything America has and is sowing in the world in the way of murderous empire results in really pissing the world off at us? Chickens coming home to roost, indeed.
In a nation in which most of the radicals and free thinkers have become silent, here is a man who still dares to rip away the veils of mis-perception and misconception and tells the cold brutal truth of American History, and America's Current Role: Genocidal Exploiters past and present.
The Left, the Protest Movement, the Peace Movement, the Human Rights Movements have all been almost ground into nothing... yet a few of us still resist. What we have been given, here, is an opportunity to speak to a true leader - and one of us.
Ward Churchill has great presence, a wealth of knowledge, yet seems as down to earth and accessible as they come. This should be an AMAZING conversation.

What if War Toys reflected Reality?
 (In July 2009 Colorado Springs Gazette published a two-part series entitled "Casualties of War". The articles focused on a single battalion based at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, who since returning from duty in Iraq had been involved in brawls, beatings, rapes, drunk driving, drug deals, domestic violence, shootings, stabbings, kidnapping and suicides. Returning soldiers were committing murder at a rate 20 times greater than other young American males. A separate investigation into the high suicide rate among veterans published in the New York Times in October 2010 revealed that three times as many California veterans and active service members were dying soon after returning home than those being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. We hear little about the personal hell soldiers live through after returning home.)

This has certainly done much to boost Obama's ratings, make us edgy with Pakistan and softened the public toward an impending action against them, renewed Islamophobia; all while dividing what is left of the Left about whether or not these actions were moral, ethical, legal or warranted.
Eichmann was eventually tried in Jerusalem for his part in the genocide of the Jewish people, why is that still not our standard?
Some are saying even discussing this question denigrates the other issues facing we Socialists... But I find it imperative to NOT give tacit approval to the flagrant flushing of the PROCESS that we once claimed made us a Nation of Laws.
I will be addressing these questions and much more tonight.
