PARTICIPATE NOV 25 (& throughout the holiday season): OCCUPY BLACK FRIDAY Let's take a day that is all about consumption and make it our own, and let's make it loud and clear that we will not support the corporations that destroyed our economy and undermined our Republic.Instead of a "Buy Nothing Day" we'll have a "Buy Local Day." Instead of buying a bunch of useless crap, let's instead go out and help the poor. Volunteer at soup kitchens and host toy drives and do the other charitable things that the government refuses to do. A season of giving instead of a season of buying.
PARTICIPATE WHEN YOU SHOPSustainable Connections (see their other Sustainable Programs also)
***SIGN PETITION: Tell the Dept of Justice: Protect the right to peacefully protest We call on the Department of Justice, our nation's top law enforcement agency, to stand up and protect American citizens whose rights to protest peacefully are under attack -- from New York to Oakland and every occupation in between.
***SIGN PETITION: Americans for Financial Reform: Tax Wall Street. We know where the money is. Tell Congress its time for Wall Street to start Paying US Back! A tiny tax on financial services can generate billions of dollars.
SIGN PETITION: ACLU: Stop excessive police force in Oakland Tear Gas. Rubber Bullets. Bean Bag Guns. Flash Grenades. As tensions rise in the Occupy movements in Oakland and around the state and the nation, we need to let police departments know that excessive force is not acceptable.
What happened in Oakland impacts all of us Read more about it HERE
(for more info on these & many others go HERE & look under "Petitions")

***OCCUPY ATLANTA***
This Park is OUR Park Saturday, November 5 · 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Troy Davis Park (formally Woodruff Park)
We, of Occupy Atlanta, are no longer protesters - we are the new world.
The idea of protest suggests a smaller power at odds with, and petitioning to, a larger power. A president , for example, does not protest his or her constituents, like a lion does not protest a mouse. Similarly, we, along with others in the Occupation movement, have been protesting.
On the 5th of November, that protesting will cease. We will Occupy what is ours, Woodruff (Troy Davis) Park, at 11:00pm. We have tasted our new world of non-violence, of democracy, and of free community, and on Saturday, the 5th of November, we will assert that world as come, beginning in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Those who wish to join us, we welcome and offer the same compassion, community, and caring that we have offered to all since our beginning, and we hope that together we can further perfect the good work that we have begun.
Washington Times: Tim Devaney: Bill would tax trading by investment firms(11.02.11) Financial industry sees harm to U.S. Touting it as a way to curb financial speculation and funnel Wall Street profits to Main Street businesses, Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill introduced Wednesday a bill to tax trading activity by investment banks and financial firms. Financial industry lobbies immediately attacked the proposal, warning it would harm the competitiveness of the U.S. capital markets.
